Monkey King - comin' at ya!

I've been doodling a while now, but this here's the first official inked piece from switching up to Manga Studio 5. It's taken some getting used to, not quite there yet in terms of the new "feel" the program has. But looks to be plenty worth the switch and I should get the groove back pretty soon, hopefully with more pieces like this!

Sheeva, MK Armageddon, Inks

The final inks for this piece with costume correction. Not bad, but I might go back and ink the original.

Digital inks in Manga Studio.

Sheeva sketch 4 (MK Armageddon)

But wait! There was a snafu with another artist and as such came a request to change costumes. This here is still Sheeva of course, albeit her alternate from Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

There is not much reference for this costume so some of the details are my best guesses. The videos of gameplay are pretty lo-def so I couldn't see details on the braces and the like. Her outfit is very early 90's Venice Beach... not exactly my favorite version but I still like her giant mohawk.

Sheeva sketch 3

Here is the new approach, I wanted to go for more of a female bodybuilder look. Happier with this pose and balance.

You'll notice her costume here is the alternate from MK 9. This was the original assignment. But sometimes assignments change...

Sheeva sketch 2

Taking the previous sketch a little further, but it wasn't going anywhere for me.

Sheeva sketch

I began working on a drawing of Sheeva for the MK Tribute at Game-Art-HQ. This first sketch was okay but the pose was a little wonky to me and I wanted to try something else.

This was done in Manga Studio.
